iMormon – Faith in Christ

A discussion about Jesus Christ and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Special Witnesses – Video

During an April 2004 session of the General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, James E. Faust told the story of a 308th Infantry batallion during World War II.

While on a mission to secure a position in the Argonne Forest, units to the left and right withdrew due to the ferocity of the battle. The middle batallion remained pinned down in thick of the battle. They were surrounded, yet they fought on and would not surrender. They became known as the Lost Batallion. Friendly artillery units, not knowing their position, inadvertently struck their position, inflicting further punishment on the soldiers. Three days passed. They ran out of food and water. They attempted to notify headquarters of their position by carrier pigeon, but the enemy shot the pigeons as they were released. A single pigeon, though wounded, arrived at headquarters. Because that one message got through, the Lost Batallion was rescued. One very important message got through.

The power one message has to rescue is at the heart of the gospel. God calls prophets to the earth to lead His children out of danger and captivity. The Lord spoke to Moses and commanded him to lead Israel out of bondage and across the desert. Israel prospered when they listened to the counsel and warnings of the prophet. Today, prophets call to us. They provide us with counsel and warnings relevant to our day. I will continue to post messages from the today’s prophets and apostles. I testify to you that they are men of God and special witnesses of the Jesus Christ. They teach of Christ. They testify of Christ. And they warn us of the times ahead and show us how to prepare ourselves and our families for the last days. Each of them hold the priesthood office of apostle, and I sustain them all as prophets, seers and revelators.

I invite you to hear their words:
